How to Find an Apartment to Rent Remotely

What You Need to Know About Bishkek
Transport: No metro. Main transport — minibuses (marshrutkas), Yandex Taxi, InDriver. A trip across the city costs 80–200 som.
Internet: One of the best in the region. Fibre optic is available in most apartments, speed 100–500 Mbit/s for 500–1,000 som/month.
Language: Russian is understood by everyone. Kyrgyz is the state language, but in the city Russian is everywhere. English — limited.
Banks: Opening an account takes a passport and 1–2 hours. Visa/Mastercard work. SWIFT transfers are available.
Currency: Kyrgyz som (KGS). Dollar-denominated property transactions are the norm. Exchange offices everywhere.
Climate: Summer is hot (+30–38°C), winter mild (−5–15°C), lots of sunshine.
Registration for CIS Citizens
Citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan and other EAEU countries can stay in Kyrgyzstan without registration for up to 90 days. For longer stays — it is necessary to obtain temporary registration at the place of residence (through the immigration authority or the property owner).
